Random November

November got off to a great start when I had my good friend, Ericka from Star Valley swing by for a visit. We lunched, and took a walk to Horseshoe Bend. I take all of my visitors there and I never tire of seeing this beautiful place. I have the best friends in the world that travel so far to see me. Talking to my friends in person is so good for my soul! I just wish they weren't all so far away. 

I took the kids to the driving range and it was short lived as Zach accidently clipped Tyler on the face with his golf club. Poor kid, just can't catch a break! 

Then our family tagged along with the youth of our ward to go to the Cedar City Temple open house. I love temples and they are even better when you have your whole family in there with you. An added bonus was meeting up with Rachel, another Star Valley love!  

Tyler participated in the Veterans Day Parade...

I took both boys golfing and luckily there were no injuries. I think their favorite part was hunting for golf balls while we waited for the group in front of us to finish up at each hole. We definitely found more balls than we lost that day!

Tyler and Zach both did flag football and had a great time. It ended just when it started to get bitter cold, so that was nice for me!

We have made some great friends, the Heywoods. They are moving soon and that is a super big bummer:( They had us over for dinner and games. We played spoons and then played a drinking game, no not that kind of drinking game. It was more of a taste test game with unique soda pops, like dinosaur dung and bacon. The kids were LOVING this game and got a little loopy there at the end. They are just the funnest people and we will miss them a lot.

Josh has been installing a bigger garage door in our 2nd garage. Here is a little of the progress...I've said it once, and I'll say it again. I hit the jackpot in the handy husband department...

A little school artwork/writing from Zach.  It says, "I am thankful for a lot of things! I am thankful for my family because they help me. I am also thankful for food and water because I get thirsty and hungry. I am most thankful for my teacher because when I don't know the answer she helps me. I am one lucky turkey!!!"

November has felt like fall, the kind I can get behind though. No snow, no rain, just cooler and sunny. Just what I signed up for when we moved here...Bring on December!

Thanksgiving 2017

We had our own little family Thanksgiving dinner this year. We invited a family over and just had a pleasant time. It was fun to put on a Thanksgiving dinner! Especially when Josh was the turkey cooker and I could just worry about the fun stuff!

After we ate, we headed over to St. George to rendezvous with family. We golfed, the kids played, and swam and we went to a few of Preston's soccer games! It was beautiful weather and we loved spending time there with family!

Chaol Falls

Josh and I escaped to the lake with our boat and a kayak to do a little adventuring together. This was the biggest adventure we've had yet. It literally included blood, sweat and yes, tears. We drove our boat to the back of Navajo Canyon. When the lake got too shallow and muddy, we pulled out the kayak. We gained a little more distance with the kayak, but then had to eventually get into the mud and walk the rest of the way. Some parts of the creek had us walking in mud up to our thighs. We even had to wade through mud with ice on top, which cut my legs (hence the tears). Josh wouldn't let me give up, so we trekked on in cold bare feet. That's love for you. It was not the leisurely hike I had signed up for, that's for sure.  It felt like fall up there with the decaying leaves and coolness. The birds up there where loud and large- almost prehistoric looking. 

Not ALL of the trail was spent wading through mud. We eventually hit stronger mud and could walk on top. Lots of crossing over streams though.

We made the trek back in record time, but unfortunately had some boat troubles due to the mud. We had to drive 5 mph the rest of the way to Antelope Marina! We got in at dark and were happy the adventure was over and could get back to our babies and take a hot shower ( I was any way!) It's always an adventure with this man of mine...ALWAYS!
