Peace out, March...

March was a rough month for me, but somehow there were some pictures that made it into my camera and on to the computer. We didn't do anything all that exciting, but I documented some of the everyday stuff just because I could.

The boys had more fun with boxes...

 

They are also wrestling more. Josh took the glass out of our entertainment center today in case one of them fell through it. Ugh! Looks real nice... 

I just like this picture because it shows Tyler doing his most favorite thing- not watching TV, but cuddling. He asks me at least 5 times a day if we can cuddle. He sure loves his family.Whitney isn't really in to cuddling, that's why I took this picture.

 Anyone know how to wean a kid off of their thumb???

 Another typical thing here is ice cream after baths. I know, I do it backwards, but that's just what I do. The only way I can get them out of the bath is to tell them that there is ice cream waiting for them in the kitchen.

 

 One fun thing we did do was take our boat out for the first time. We took it to Bear Lake to see how it ran. The ice was mostly gone from the lake so we bundled up and played at the lake for a few hours. Of course we didn't get in the water! Here are some pictures of that. We plan to be boating most of the summer, so if anyone comes up to visit, bring your suit!

 First time I've ever worn a parka and beanie on a boat! Zach sure was a trooper with all his "stuff" on.

 How sweet would that have been to waterski on this water! You can actually see the reflection of the clouds! (those aren't ice chunks)

 I have had some anxiety about driving the boat, so that's another reason we went out when we did. There wasn't anyone else out on the water for me to pose a threat to! I'm not afraid to drive anymore. This boat is really fun. It turns really smoothly without dumping out half of the people in the bow. (not that that's ever happened on any other boat I've been on, it's just one of the scenarios I've concocted in my mind that I want to avoid- I told you I have anxiety!)

 

And here are a couple of pictures of my Zachy. I've realized that I've taken FAR less pictures of this guy than the other two. 

Whitney got her "honors" yesterday.  To celebrate this, the kids get recognized in a school assembly. The theme for this year is Pirates.  She got to walk the plank and jump through a hula hoop and onto a wrestling mat where she got sprayed with water guns while crazy music plays. It's a really big deal for the kids at school and we're happy that Whitney reached her reading goal. She's such a bright girl.

So, farewell March. I'm sorry I don't really like you it's just that you're cold when you should be warming up. You're brown and at some times white, when you should be green. You awaken all sorts of undesirable critters that I wish would stay in the ground. So, peace out March, bring on April!!

Biz's Beat of the Day...Zach's a beatboxer.

Have you ever seen Yo Gabba Gabba? When I first saw it, I thought it was SO weird. Now, I think it's just pure entertainment. Zach is Crazy about it. Here's a video of his reaction when it comes on. This isn't his most worked up reaction, but you can still sense his excitement.

On the show, there's a segment called "Biz's Beat of the Day". There's a guy that teaches the kids a beatboxing rhythm. For awhile, Zach would walk around doing this breathing and then spitting thing that was really odd. Then one day he finished it all off by saying "ByeBye"- just like Biz does. I knew exactly what he was doing: he was beatboxing. Here's a little taste of his skillzzzzz.  If you haven't seen the show, this may not be very awesome to you, but we think it's pretty funny.

In case you're curious, here's Biz and a little clip of what he does. Also, if you've never seen Yo Gabba Gabba, I would highly recommend it. You've never seen a kids show quite like it.

 

We think it's pretty critical to choose programing for your kids that teaches them important skills... like beatboxing.

 Josh took Tyler to the Monster Trucks last month. Tyler thought it was SO cool. Grandpa and a couple of friends were able to come along too. Yay for friends and Monster trucks!

Sad Movies and Bad Words

Whitney was in charge of the lesson for FHE on Monday. She wrote up her lesson. Before you read it, have you ever seen that horribly SAD seminary movie called "The Mailbox"? Whitney's primary class watched it on Sunday. It's about a sweet grandma that has sort of been forgotten by her family and most of her neighbors. She does have a little neighbor girl that visits her sometimes, but mostly she's just lonely. Every day she goes to her mailbox, only to be disappointed that there is no mail from her family. Finally she gets a piece of mail,  from her family telling her that they are sending her to a nursing home. At that point, she has a heart attack and dies. WHAT!??!? I know. I can't remember what the take home message is of the movie, but if you read below you will see that Whitney took home the fact that you shouldn't watch sad movies because they are just too sad, and also that "you shouldn't tell people you are going to send them to a nursing home because they cold have a heart attack and die". I couldn't agree more.
