A little summer documentation...

So our spring/summer, like everyone else's has been a little soggy. We have really been trying to get outside and enjoy each day that's sunny and warm. I have tried to document some of the things that we do day to day that make summer fun for my kids. I love that they are still young enough to find fun in the simple things we have around our house, for example:

This is the kids and our little neighbor friend digging in the dirt. They love it. Whitney even wanted to go buy a new shovel the other day for better digging. She loves to find worms and carry them around. She also loves cutting them in half and watching both ends wiggle...that's normal right?
Another backyard adventure involves "the ditch". The kids go out back and stay out there for hours making "soup" or "dams" in the ditch. All I know is that they come back in super wet and muddy and it drives me nuts. They sure love playing back there though.

Here's one of the awesome rocks that Whitney and her friend found in the ditch. The slimier the rock is the cooler it is with these kids. I think it's because it makes it more shiny that way. I don't know. All I know is that Whitney is a big fan of slimy stuff apparently. They were pretty proud of this find. They painted chalk all over it to make it cooler.

Another favorite in the backyard is the Cozy Coupe.

Whitney  is learning how to jump rope. It was getting a little frustrating so she just decided to swing it around in circles. She sure is a free spirit, my little ragamuffin.

This has become a fun hang out for the kids. Since they all can't fit inside the play house, I guess that's why they sit on top of the house, usually eating a cold treat.
There are lots of fun summer programs at the library. My kids love to go and do the crafts, play games and read stories at the park. It's so nice to have things to occupy them so they aren't just squawking at each other all day long. Some days I think they really DON'T like each other .

We also have tons of free passes to the bowling alley so hopefully we can get our bowl on more this summer.
I 've been having fun taking pictures. It's so beautiful and green up here. It almost makes you forgive mother nature for leaving the snow here for so long...almost.

Zach really likes Whitney's princess tent for some reason, he just goes in there and laughs and laughs. He's such a little character.
The kids are also taking swimming lessons and are really enjoying it. I hope mother nature cooperates and we can have 7 more sunny days! No great pics of them in the pool though. No parents allowed for some reason.

I finally gave in and brought the  Slip-n-Slide out for the kids to play on.  There's nothing quite like a Slip-n-slide to bring the neighborhood together...

 Miss Whit...

I took this shot because it captures many of the things I love about summer. Blue skies, wet towels, green grass and a carefree breeze. Ahhhh...she's finally here.
Welcome Summer.
