crafty chick

Okay, so I've been a little crafty lately. My sister in law (Jeni) is spoon feeding me on how to do Photoshop digital scrapbooking and that is fun - I'm slowly getting the hang of it- maybe I'll post something when I do a real layout. Right now I'm just trying to figure out how to do stuff. Today I made these bows/clips. I think that maybe if Whitney has something cute for her hair, she will let me do it. It's a good thing her face is cute because her hair....
is not.
I don't understand how all these little girls have such cute hair. Everyone says "just put on a show and do it while she's watching a show". Done it- doesn't work. She either has a SUPER sensitive scalp, or she is overly dramatic about it. Probably a combination of both.
If I get one of these beauties in her hair, I will no doubt blog about it. Don't hold your breath though.
I've also fallen in love with Modge Podge. I'm just refinishing some frames with it and it's super easy. I guess I'm just getting sick of looking at the same stuff all day in my house. So, ya this is what you do in a small town- you become a craft dork.

Mmmmmm...cake

This is the cake I made for Josh's b-day. It was an ice cream cake with whoppers, fudge and whipped cream. It took about 6 hours to make, but it was worth it. It doesn't look very pretty but it was pretty delicious...obviously.

Josh Smith, this is your life (well the parts that are documented in picture)

Sorry I didn't posted this earlier, but our internet was down yesterday. Just a little birthday tribute to Josh. He turned 30 on Thursday. We had some festivities including a little party last night. I will blog about that later:) Also, if you click on one of the little outlined bars at the top, you will be able to see the entire album and descriptions of the pictures- not just the 30 on the blog slideshow. I'm a lame toe and can't figure this blogging stuff out, well I probably could, but I don't have time for it.

My little Man @ 5 months

Tyler is 5 months old today. He hasn't quite mastered rolling over yet, but he's done it a couple of times. He puts his feet up in the air and then swings them over to the side, and then just kind of hangs out. He can stand up for a really long time and just loves me to stand him up on my lap. He is such a great kid. I can't even explain how fortunate we feel to have him in our family. He's starting to make his presence known a little more- squaking when he wants something and not giving up toys as easily to his big sister. He's just a smiley guy and it's contagious. I can't get enough of this kid.

The nice side of spring...

It was a beautiful day today. A great day for Josh's softball tournament. They played 5 games. It was a double elimination tournament with 9 teams. They didn't win the whole thing, but they got pretty far. The kids and I stayed for 3 games. Whitney LOVED being there- plenty of ways to get dirty!Whitney kept herself occupied by filling her shoes up with Rocks. She then made a "pattern" of rocks on the bleachers. I'm so lucky that she can entertain herself.
This is Whitney's face after we got home. WOW...time to hit the showers! Yes, that is red dirt on her face (you should have seen her arms and feet- she was walking around barefoot on the rocks), don't judge me. She prefers to learn things the hard way.Tyler was asleep for a little while, but then just enjoyed being out in the fresh air. (Yes Mom, he had a hat on. We all managed to come away sunburn free:) He's such a trooper. Just goes along with whatever we're doing.
We busted out the hammock a few days ago and are enjoying the fact that we can be outside without freezing or being blown away. I feel like we need to be outside as much as possible, I've never appreciated warm, sunny days as much as I do now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring- it could snow. You just have to make the most of each day.

Springtime @ the Smith's

Outside our front door. Yes, that's snow."Spring" has been pretty weird for us this year. I woke up this morning to the sound of rain falling on our house. This was a welcoming sound mainly because it wasn't snow.
Whitney was pretty pumped to be able to sport her rain gear. She was a big hit at the post office.
Another thing we are up to is feeding Tyler solid food. He's slowly getting the hang of it. I think he's just packing it in his cheeks.
Something tells me this little guy is going to be a little mischievous when he gets older....
Also, today is Me and Josh's 6th wedding anniversary. We celebrated last weekend. We went to a really good restaurant- no, not Burger King- it was up in Alpine. It's called the Flying Saddle. It's actually a lodge, but with a restaurant. It is my new favorite restaurant up here. Too bad it's 45 minutes away. Very pretty artwork/photography, candles, killer salad bar and a giant Moosehead to boot- very "lodgy". What else could you ask for? Anyway, it was nice to have good food and a peaceful ambiance. Thanks JT.
