Over-nighter

We took the kiddos on a little over-nighter this weekend. It was only 20 minutes away, so just a quick little get away. It was perfect for them. They had lots of fun and so did Josh and I. Here are some highlights:
My little campers

Whitney watching Daddy fish
This is Tyler telling us to "shhhhh" while Daddy is fishing so we don't scare the fish away. (Pretty sure rock throwing scares them away too though:)
The kids got a little delirious at the end. For some reason, Tyler closes his eyes for fun. I think he does it so much because we always laugh at him when he does this:
adorable, I know!
Whitney gets in these moods where she reminds me of a happy drunk, I know that's so bad to say, but it's all I can think of to compare it too. It's so funny.
Imagine her happily and slowly saying "You're the mommy that I wanted" - she seriously says this to me along with "Your such a sweet Mom". For some reason, she is so incredibly nice to me lately (most of the time). I love it. Don't worry, I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
We had so much fun, I hope we can get one more trip in before the summer is over.

(Just FYI- I DO wash their faces:)

More stuff...

We had our Johannessen Family Reunion last week, and it was a lot of fun. It was a Luau. Luckily none of us Norweigans showed up in traditional Luau attire, it would have been a pasty white mess. Some of the boys, these are some of the non-Norweigans...Great Uncle Dale, doing the family auction. There were lots of cute things to bid on this year. Uncle Ryan pushing the girlies on the tire swing. Imagine five little girls squealing in delight- so cute!Following the reunion, grandma and grandpa came over to our house and we went to the rodeo. The kids were pretty good, they got a little delirious at the end though. So fun to have them come to stay and visit.
This weekend I took the kids to the cabin and unfortunately our waterskiing plans were thwarted by the weather, but the kids had fun on the beach anyway. We also had a birthday party for Chris, Andrew, Chelsey and Miranda. Yummy cakes were had by all. The kids had fun taking inventory of their blisters, not quite sure why. Pretty funny. Good times....

More Fair activities

Imagine a deep throaty growl coming out of Tyler's mouth and you'll appreciate this picture more. Whitney was pretty serious about driving the car. I think she really thought she was steering it. So cute.

Whitney was loving this ride and then about half way through, she had a mild freak out. It was pretty funny. It was her first "big kid" ride.
I love seeing how happy Whitney and Tyler get after riding these rides. I can't wait to take them on big roller coasters when they get older.
They had a cool little animal show at the Fair this year, and I was quite pleased to see a Bengal Tiger there. It was such a pretty animal.
It's been a pretty fun fair week so far. I wish I had more pictures of all the festivities. For those of you wanting to visit us, fair week would be a good time to come up, so plan on it next year. It's usually the first week in August. We'd love to have visitors!

Demolition Derby 2009

We made it through another demolition derby this year. As long as there was action in the arena, the kids were pretty good. Tyler had his concerned look on his face the whole time. It was so funny. Gotta love white trash entertainment!
